LAST BLOG!!

FINAL BLOG! So Thursday and Friday we will be taking our in class exams and we wont have time to blog ='( meaning that this is my last blog post! It has been a great sememster in Webdesign, I am really going to miss this class! Especially all the fun times Nancy, Annie, and I had while blogging! We have been through the good... and the not so good (but mainly the good) And I think we are ready to move onto sophmore year! I cant believe how fast this year has gone by, and I have made some lasting memories (especially of sharks and african catz) See you guyz on the flipside! Blogstar signing off. permanantly.

WoRLd CulTuREs DaY

Today is World Cultures day for the freshmen class!! Basically the point of the day is to dress up like a different culture and then bring some type of food to our World Cultures class. I had World Cultures first period and it was sooo much fun! We got to try a lot of great food and then every one went around the room and told everyone one fact about the culture they dressed up as! And then some rising seniors came in and talked to us about their recent trip to Japan, it sounded like so much fun! So anyways I'm wearing a Kimono type dress, and Nancy is wearing a Chinese top and pant suit that is too kewt! and Annie is looking so stylish in her Mexican top and khaki shorts combo! Work it girls! Lots of people are wearing really cool outfits, they are soooo creative! Oh and we only have 4 days of real school left!!

Summer Volunteering!

This summer I want to try and get 50 community service hours so that I can get the presidents award my sophmore year! I was thinking about volunteering at the SPCA because it would be so much fun to play with the dogs and the cats and get to take them on walks and stuff! Also I was going to volunteer at this place where I can assist a teacher, like I would help keep the little kids in order and what not! That would be a lot of fun too but Im worried that I may not have the time, because I could also be working this summer. I was gonna be a hostess at the restaurant my dad owns called Red Hot and Blues, but I really need to get my volunteer hours so I dont know what to do! I really hope that I can get 50 hours this summer!

Last Week!!

Its our official last week of school!!! that means we only have one week left of real classes! I have my last test today before exams! So this week will mainly be review for exams. I am worried about exams but I think if I really study then I should be able to do well on them! I really need to study for world cultures and Biology because those classes have the most material. But its so close to summer and I am really excited to go to Hawaii the first week of June! I cant wait for school to be over!! (shout out to Nancy and Annie)

SPRINKLES CUPCAKES!

So Nancy and I were just discussing the deliciousness that is sprinkles cupcakes! She is being kind of the most amazing person ever and bringing me some for my birthday! My Birthday!!

My birthday is this saturday!! I am soo excited, because I will finally be turning 15! I'm probably one of the youngest in my grade, so it will be nice to say that I am just as old as everyone else in the grade. But my cousin's wedding is on the same day so I cant have a party or anything because I have to go to that. And the night before I cant do anything because I have the rehersal dinner that night! But still I am really looking forward to this weekend because apparently my mom has something planned for my birthday but Im really curios as to what it could be. And then on Sunday I think I might go to the movies or something with some friends just as a way to celebrate my birthday. As for gifts, I really havent suggested anything to my parents because I dont really know what I want. I will probably end up getting like clothes and maybe some giftcards but thats about it. But as Nancy is telling me now, those are usually the best gifts! So I think all in all it should be a good birthday!

Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother's day and I think it went pretty well! My sister's and I got my mom a lot of flowers and we got her this CD that she really wanted. For lunch I went to the restaurant Houstons with my dad and my Grandmother, it was sooo good! I got the crabcakes (like always.) And the food was great! Then when I got home all of my aunts were over and I got to see my Cousin Emilie! Then we had a big dinner and the food was really great! My cousin and I made the cornbread lol. But all in all I think it was a very successful Mother's Day.

Zoo Excursion!

This weekend was soooooo much fun! So on friday I had my cousins wedding shower, which was not too much fun because I didnt really know too many people. BUT I did get to see some of my cousins there and I really enjoyed seeing them! Then on Saturday I got to go to the Zoo!! I went with my friends Vinita, Sarah, and Scott. It was so much fun because we got to see all of the exibits and we just kind of wandered around looking at animals! I didnt see too many african cats though (sorry Annie :( ) But I did get to see some Tigers! So the trip wasnt a complete waste. Nancy just told that she got to explore the tiger cage when she was the prime of her youth. So jealous! But I think my favorite exibit definitely had to be the giraffes! I was soooo sad when we had to leave because I had such a great time, but we stopped by the gift shop and picked up some zoo paraphernalia. Then later that night I got to go to a play! I went with Scott (my bfrand) and his familia. We went to see the play Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at the Dallas Theatre Center. Scott's brother was in it and it was such a good play! I had a great time! I had such a fun weekend!!

HAWAII

So school is almost out! I think we only have 2 or 3 weeks left, and Im so excited for the summer! It is going to be so much fun! But what Im really excited about is that for the first week of June I get to go to Hawaii! My family and I used to go there every spring break but we havent really since my parents split and my sister left for college. But my dad decided to take my sisters and I to Maui to relive old times. I am so excited to go back! I hope that I get to go snorkeling and scuba diving and maybe go surfing again! Hawaii is probably my favorite place to vacation just because it is so pretty. I cant wait!

Project Info

So our project is really coming along. We are actually almost done with it. The background of the page is a light blue color and we finished designing the logo too! We also created pages containing information about Verbs, Conversations, Culture, and Geography. Now all we need to do is meet with our "client" Madame Jones and see what she wants us to change. If she doesnt want to change a lot then we should be just about done with our project! It has been soooooo much fun working with Nancy and Annie on this! Pass it On

Yesterday was the Pass it On ceremony at ESD. I remember last year when my sister passed it on to me. I really liked how she got to pass it on to me because I think it would be kind of awkward with someone you didnt really know. Also we got to stand next to Nancy and her brother! that was soooo much fun! But this year at the service I was in choir so I got to sing while they were lighting the candles. I couldnt really see anything because I was focused on singing so i didnt get to see the actual lighting of the candles. But oh well we still got to sing a lot of really pretty songs, and I really enjoyed the service!

Last Weekend

So this past weekend I was really busy! On Friday I had to go to a cistercian party, and that was actually pretty fun because I got to see my Ursuline and Hockaday friends. It was themed cowboys and indians and I had a lot of fun! Then on Saturday I had my piano recital, where I played and sang the song Laughing With by Regina Spektor. I think I did well, but I was really happy that some of my friends could make it, to watch me play (sadly Annie and Nancy couldnt make it *sob*) And then on Sunday I had a wedding shower, for my cousins wedding! They are getting married on May 15 which just happens to be my birthday!

Project Update!

So our project is looking pretty good so far. And guess what? Annie joined our group! Our project is coming along really well, and we designed a logo for our page too! We have almost all of the information we need, and we are meeting with our "client" Madame Jones a lot too. I think in the end our project will be really great! Hopefully soon I will be able to post a link to our new French webpage!

Webdesign Project!

So for our webdesign project we have to find a "client" at ESD and make them a webpage. We are also allowed to have a partner for this assignment so I was thinking about doing something with Nancy! We wanted to create a kind of study guide webpage for our French class. We thought it would be really helpful for anyone who needed to study their french verbs, conjugations, irregular conjugations etc. I think its going to be a really fun project!

Pirates of Silicon Valley

I think that in the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley, Steve Jobs was in fact a villian. He turned on his friend/partner and he abandoned his girlfriend when she was pregnant with his child. He also hurt his friend, Steve, in the progress of trying to run his business. His intentions were to create a successful bussiness with his partner, however he cut his friend out of the bussiness entirely and decided to run things himself. He was extremely selfish and bossy towards all of his employees. Although he did manage to create a succesful company, his employees turned on him and fired him from Apple. So in the end his attempts to create a company were successful but he rejected all of his friends and family in the process.

Northpark

I love to go shopping at northpark mall because they have a lot of stores that I really like. For example they have stores like Madewell, Anthropologie, Martin and Osa, and Urban Outfitters. However, whenever I go there I always seem to run into someone I know. Its a great place to go with your friends and just hang out but if you are going with your family it can be a bit embarrissing if you run into someone you know. My friends and I occasionally go to Northpark if we want to see a movie or buy something but I dont think it is a great place just to "hang out." I personally dont find walking around the mall aimlessly entertaining but I'm not saying that I dont enjoy northpark. I really do like Northpark because it is a great place to shop and occasionally I go and just walk around. But if you're looking for a place to hang out going somewhere like mini golf, bowling, or even just having friends over to your house might be more fun.

Back to School

So Spring break is officially over. But while it lasted it was sooo much fun!! Florida was so pretty and me and Sarah had a lot of fun! Unfortunately, it still rained there on some days and it was pretty windy on the beach. The water was too cold for us to go swimming in but we still had so much fun! We went to this place called Seaside where it was so pretty and sunny and they had awesome gelato! We spent a lot of time there because it was so much fun and they had great food! But after a week we had to go back home to Dallas and now we are in school again. Still Spring Break was so much fun!!

Tables

This week in webdesign class we are learning all about tables. We have learned how to make a table on a website and how to change the width or cell spacing or cell padding. We even learned how to change the color of a table or add a background image. Howeverr, its not necessarily easy to make a table. It takes a lot of different tags and details but I think that after some time I will get the hang of it!

SHARKS!

So as I recently mentioned in a previous post: I am going to Florida for Spring Break. My friend Nancy and I were discussing the possibility of a shark attack while swimming in the ocean. I like to swim out past the sand bar which may be more dangerous than standing in the shallower portions of the ocean. This means I could get attacked! ahhhhhh! But I dont think I will as long as I'm a "safe swimmer." Which means that I cant splash around or make too much noise and I cant go into the water with an open cut or wound. So anyways I will keep you guys updated on any shark sightings!

Weakest Webpage

So far I think that my weakest webpage would have to be my about HTML page. It was the first page I made so I wasnt very sure of what I was doing or how to work a web page. Also it isnt very well designed, I dont think I picked very good colors either. Spring Break!!

Spring Break is almost here! At ESD we only have today and tomorrow left of school and then we are out for a week! I am going to Florida with my friend Sarah. Even though we dont leave until sunday I am still really excited to go! We will be there for an entire week and we get back on the next sunday. It will be really awesome to be able to go out on the beach everyday! The ocean there is sooo pretty, I really want to go swimming! A lot of my friends are also going to Florida too. I really cant wait until tomorrow when we get out of school! I wish I was in Florida now!!

Sadies!

So this last weekend was the Sadie Hawkins dance at ESD! It was sooooo much fun cause I got to dance and hang out with some of my friends like Nancy and Annie (btw check out their blogs.) So our dance was themed cowboys and indians and it was so much fun dressing up on theme. I had a really great time at the dance!

Images and Colors

This week everyone in the website design class was instructed to create a web page on Colors. We had to use what we new about images and html's to make the page. So far I have learned a lot about what makes an effective webpage and what types of colors to use. And in the process, making this webpage has also taught me a lot more about images! I now know how to correctly link a picture to a webpage and much more. We also spent time talking about color blindness and how it affects a web page. I had to choose colors that would also look appealing to a color blind person. I am really learning a lot in this class! Look and see if you can see the 74 in this photo, its a test to check if you're color blind or not!

Links!

So in web design class we are learning all about links! Links can be really confusing at some points. We are learning about all the different kinds of links as well as how to use them. Its difficult because you have to learn how to make a link appear on your homepage. So I updated my homepage a bit and you guys should check it out! www.esdeagles.com/collinse. But anyways I think links will become much easier once I have some more experience with them!

Meow

Oh my gosh so I love kittens! I have one kitten of my own and his name is Leonard. He is the cutest! I have found some really great YouTube videos about cats. Some of my favorites are "Pinky the Cat" and "Surprised Kitten." You guys should totally check those videos out! Enjoy! xoxo

SNOW!!

Last week it snowed here in Texas! It was so much fun going outside to play in the snow. However, the first day it snowed I was on a school hiking trip for the mountaineering group, at Wolf Run. It was really awesome there! The entire group had a huge snowball fight, and we went sledding, and built several snowmen. It was a really fun day! Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short because we didnt want the roads to get to bad for us to drive back on. So I got to go home and play in the snow some more! It snowed all day, and we got a record amount of snow! And the next day there was still a lot of snow on the ground so I got to go play in it some more with some of my friends! It was an awesome day!

LOGOS

About HTML

So in website design class we are learning about HTML tags, so far it has been somewhat difficult. It is hard to keep up with all of the different tags, but I think that I am finally getting the hang of it now.

My First Blog

I just created this blog for my website design class. We have to create two different blogs and choose which one we like more. I attend the Episcopal School of Dallas, and I am currently in the 9th grade. I have been a student here since kindergarden, and I really enjoy it. We just got back from Christmas break and now we are starting the second semester. So far I have managed to keep up with my studies and get good grades. The only class that is different from last semeseter is my website design class, and I had to take it in place of my study hall. It's hard not having a study hall once a day, but so far I have managed it fine. The only difficult part is that sometimes I get a lot of homework like in algebra class and I wont have enough time to do it all. Anyways today is Friday and I am going to the ESD basketball game tonight. I am supposed to participate in the "Winter Sports Preview" which is where I go and talk to kids who are possibly thinking about coming to ESD. All I really have to do is take them to the basketball, or soccer, game and have a conversation with them about our school. The rest of the weekend pretty relaxed for me, I dont really have any plans except to sleep and do homework. Which is nice considering I am usually really busy during the weekend. So this weekend will give me a chance to just relax and do whatever I want. But anyways I am sitting next to my friend Annie, and she is also currently writing her blog.
